Patronal Festival
Sunday 26 October 2014
To celebrate 160 years of worship at Port Elliot, St Jude’s Anglican Church invited renowned Adelaide soprano Yvonne Sinclair to sing at the church’s Patronal Festival on Sunday 26 October.
Ms Sinclair sang Liddle’s ‘How lovely are thy dwellings’ (Sacred Song from Psalm 84) as the response to the first Bible reading. During Communion she sang the hymn ‘In our day of thanksgiving’ (music by Strutt, words by Draper), followed by Franck’s ‘Panis Angelicus’.
Ms Sinclair was accompanied on the pipe organ by St Jude’s Organ Scholar Isaac Ellis of Port Elliot, who played for the whole service.
Parishioners and visitors agreed the superb music helped create an uplifting and prayerful celebration of a special day in St Jude’s history.
